 AWARDS , ACCOMPLISHMENTS , EVENTS 

In 2004, Byers entered her first competition in the Pastel Journal

and was honored with two awards. She is dedicated to pursuing her art career long-term and will continue to enter top-quality shows and competitions and participate in animal welfare causes.

 

Following are some highlights of those pursuits:

 

May/June 2008

Byers' work has been published in an articled titled Animal Attraction in the May/June 2008 edition of  The Pastel Journal.

May 2008

Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation (WAIF) has selected Byers' pastel painting, "Freedom Runner" as the winning piece in the juried art show. It will be available for purchase during the live auction to be held May 17th, 2008.

Apr 2008

With her juried acceptance into the Pastels USA 2008 22nd Annual International Open Exhibition, Byers' is honored to annouce she has been awarded  Signature Status with the Pastel Society of the West Coast.

Richeson School of Art and Gallery has selected one of Byers' paintings for the  Richeson 75: Artist's Choice Exhibition in Kimberly, WisconsinThe  painting will also be published in a limited edition hardcover, full color book in 2008 which will feature other paintings from the same exhibition.

Sep 2007

Richeson School of Art and Gallery has selected three of Byers' works to be published in a limited edition hardcover, full color book being published late 2007. The book will represent paintings from the Richeson 75: Landscape & Exteriors Competition.

Sep 2007

Byers painting, Sweet Spots on the Mainland has been juried in to the Richeson 75: Landscape & Exteriors Exhibit  to be held in Kimberly, WI, beginning October 27th 2007. This piece will also be  published in a limited edition hardcover, full color, book being published in 2007.
July 2007 Because her work for causes so closely aligns with Artists for Conservation Foundation (AFC), Byers is honored to have achieved Signature Status with this organization.

"The Artists for Conservation Foundation (AFC) represents a juried membership of 500 of the world's leading nature artists from 27 countries and includes virtually all of the top names in its field."

June 2007 With her acceptance into the most recent Northwest Pastel Society  International Open Exhibit, Byers' has been awarded  Signature Status. 
May  2007 Juried selection: Byers' work has been selected for inclusion in the Northwest Pastel Society's 21st International Open Exhibit 2006. The show dates are June 21st  through July 21st, 2007.
February  2007 Richeson School of Art and Gallery has selected Byers' work to represent one of the finest works of art produced by today's visual artists. Her painting "Just Peachy" can be seen at the Richeson 75 Still Life Exhibition in Kimberly, Wisconsin. The exhibit will be open until March 30th, 2007.
January  2007 Byers' painting, "Ewe Getting Very Sleepy," was selected in the Pastel Journal  international competition as being among the Best Art of 2006. All winning entries can be seen in the April 2007 issue of the magazine.
November  2006 Byers was invited to show her paintings in the Planet Bronze Art Gallery Miniature Show in Bozeman, Montana. Show dates are December 2nd through December 31st, 2006.
September  2006 In her continued effort to help raise funds to stop the shooting of Mourning Doves in Michigan, Byers donated an original pastel painting for a fundraiser for the Committee to Keep Doves Protected. Her efforts were rewarded when the Michigan voters said "No" to the shooting of Mourning Doves!
August  2006 Juried selection: Byers' work has been selected for inclusion in the Northwest Pastel Society's 20th International Open Exhibit 2006. The show dates are September 3 through September 30th, 2006.
May  2006 Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation's annual Spring Fling auction ~ Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington. Byers does one commission a year and it is to benefit WAIF's auction. Thanks to the generosity of the auction bidders, Byers donations raised over $2100. For more information about WAIF, visit WAIF's Website
March  2006 Byers' work was juried into the Pastel Society of the West Coast's 20th Annual Open Exhibition "Pastels USA 2006." Artists from all over the world enter this competition for awards of over $11,000 and for the honor of having their work exhibited in this prestigious show. 
February 2006

 

Byers' painting, "Not So Still Life," was recently selected by The Pastel Journal judges as among the Best Art of 2005. The Pastel 100 Competition is an international competition with only 19 works selected in the animal and wildlife category. All winning entries can be seen in the April 2006 issue of The Pastel Journal  magazine.
January 2006

Juried selection: Northwest Pastel Society  Special Members Exhibit ~ Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle. 

June 2005

Juried selection:  Northwest Pastel Society's 19th International Open Exhibit 2005. Among other honors, the juror for the show, Alan Flattmann,  was awarded the Master Pastelist distinction by the Pastel Society of America.

May 2005

Juried selection:   Pastel Society of the West Coast's 19th Annual Open Exhibition "Pastels USA 2005." The  Pastel Society of the West Coast is the largest pastel organization west of the Mississippi with a strong reputation for the professional quality of its exhibitions. Artists from all over the world enter this competition for awards of over $10,000 and for the honor of having their work exhibited in this prestigious show.

 April 2005 Just what the Alaskan wolves ordered; a painting to honor them and to help them in their struggle to be free from aerial hunting. Through the generosity of Byers' collectors, one of her pastel paintings raised $2000 which was donated to Defenders of Wildlife.  October 2004

 

Pastel Society of America ~  Byers was elected as a Juried Associate Member of  the Pastel Society of America which carefully selects members from the thousands of applications it receives. Its current membership is approximately 700 and it is an honor for Byers to add her name to this list.
August 2004

 

In an effort to help raise funds to stop the shooting of Mourning Doves in Michigan, Byers offered an original pastel painting as a fundraiser. Through the generosity of her collectors,  the painting raised $1500 which was donated to the Animal Protection Institute.
