A couple of California
Quail have been courting just outside my studio window -
watching their antics has provided hours of entertainment.
For this piece I created a soft romantic feeling in the
background, with a path that leads further back into the
seclusion and shelter of the distant trees. The warm
colors in the foreground add a little sizzle to the
romance between the two quail.
I often use Kitty
Wallis Museum sanded panel for pastel painting and since
it is a stable support for oils, too, I used it for this
piece.
