They made me say that.
These three calves live just up the road from us at a
place I kindly refer to as "cow corner." I have been
driving past cow corner more than half my life and I have
been waiting a long time to get the perfect feeling for
this painting. We recently had a good enough rain to
leave a bit of a puddle and then the warm evening sun
started setting behind the
calves. As I approached them, slowly, they didn't move,
other than to glance up briefly. THAT was the moment I
was looking for - that moment of absolute innocence and
curiosity.
