Magical moments happen all around us every day. I get a
sense of joy when I feel I have captured one on canvas.
Painting this scene of my grandson on a beach in Seaside,
Oregon, immediately transported me back to that day. While
painting I could hear his excitement. I remember him
kicking his shoes off as he ran full-speed toward the
water’s edge. Then, in an instant, I saw that “ahhhh”
moment when, after hours of travel and impatient waiting,
his foot finally made contact with the welcoming
sea. A huge smile instantly spread across his face and
mine!
For
me, this piece is successful it when causes one to stop long
enough to remember such a magical feeling.
